Editing: blog task

Cinematography The initial shot was a crane shot from the view of a helicopter showing us the mass amount of cars crossing the border. After the setting is presented the camera goes in for close ups of the characters. The camera switches between their faces and then POV shots showing us where they're looking and what they're looking for. This is done to create and then maintain maintain the tension, as we know all that the characters know, if we're looking through their eyes we only manage to discover what they do.Once the characters leave the car the camera shots change, they stick with medium shots/medium close-ups of the characters to show us more of what's going on. Momentarily we are also shown another Crane shot from the helicopter showing us how many soldiers there are. Editing The pace of editing differs. The scene begins with very slow paced and well though out between each cut, being long enough for the audience to identify what's happening but not

Film & TV Language: Cinematography

1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence.  Highlight your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons. The opening is filled with first gives us a pan of the city, then close ups of the more relevant areas to the opening and story. With each character introduced it begins with an establishing shot, then a long shot, then a medium then goes for medium-close ups and close ups to introduce each one. 2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character? Each character is shown in a different setting and the camera work explores the entire setting of each character giving us a glimpse into what their personality is like, and we assume that their setting will reflect their personality. 3)  Find and analyse four film or TV stills. Embed the images in your blog and analyse the camera shot/angle and what they communicate to the

Blade Runner 2049

First Article Although what was said is true, the story is very deep and complex, It should really be watched by people who are ready to delve deep into the universe the story is set in, otherwise the movie can become really boring and tedious at times almost to the point where you don't feel like watching it anymore. A slight lack of action throughout as the movie focuses mainly on  Second Article I think the movie generally didn't live up to the hype that surrounded it. Considering that majority of people seeing it most likely haven't seen the first they may be more than likely to feel disappointed for it's lack of cliche's and not appreciate the originality that the fans of the old movie have come to see. And as for winning over younger generations I feel that's a complete misinterpretation as younger viewers would much rather prefer to see more shallow characters with massive explosions, guns and cars. Third Article The review focuses a lot on factors

• Chiron is a character of few words. Why is this? How do the three actors use body language to communicate Chiron’s emotions to the audience? Why is he reluctant to make eye contact with people? All three actors use body language to convey their feelings throughout the movie, therefore the lack of speech from Chiron is easily overlooked as the audience in able to interpret clearly what he wants to say and how he's feeling. His reluctance to make eye contact can suggest his loss of trust towards people which was caused by his rough up bringing and constantly being hurt by others.  • Did anything about the Miami setting surprise you, compared to its party image in popular culture? How does the saturated colour capture the image of the city the filmmakers are trying to convey? This image of Miami shows a completely different side, showing the audience the gritty and run down poverty stricken neighbourhoods where people go through daily struggles. The saturated colours show

Media catch up task 3-4

Studio 60: The scene begins with a zoom in through the window which transforms into an establishing shot presenting the setting. It then switches to a media close-up of the mans face to show his emotional confusion. The camera focuses on the screen then panning to the left still focused on the screen. At one point a crane shot is used and pan up and then above the man presenting. Several medium shots showing the characters facial expression and body language. The camera angles and shots are roughly similar but from different places (Left/Right) and switch between them quickly giving it a dramatic effect which helps develop the fast paced narrative. 13 Reasons why: Scene starts of with an over the should (OTS) shot sowing all the characters and their faces before switching to the main character at a medium close up showing his face. Long shots are used as the characters wonder through the school with students passing by. The long shots change angle and positions. The scene continues

Feedback WWW - Good use of contrapuntal non diegetic sound in the fight scene. - Showed a clear understanding of knowledge of sound through the two clips used. - The music fit in with the scenes that were showing even though they were contrapuntal. EBI - Don't makes the clips really long as it bores the audience. - Try and use parallel sound to create a different type of effect. - Try make it clearer in the second video as it sounded a little parallel Personal Response I used contrapuntal sound effectively in the fighting scenes adding music which didn't match the scene in terms of the way it sounded and the lyrics making it sound ironic. I could have used a few more clips and tried using more parallel sounds, I could have also left the action genre and tried using a different one to add a bit of variety to the video. In my opinion the best video was Aranjit's because he used Contrapuntal music really well and it  have a comedic vibe to it making it
