Funny Games 1. What is the director saying about the family from the choice of music played? The director is trying to present them as a typical upper class family, along with a hint of sophistication. 2. How would you describe this use of music? The initial use of music is parallel and diegetic as it's coming from the car radio and suits the family theme. Then the music switches to heavy punk rock which is non-diegetic and contrapuntal as it's not what we'd associate with a upper class family. 3. How do you think the narrative might develop? The use of the punk rock music is probably foreshadowing some sort of disequilibrium that may occur later on in the movie. Clockwork Orange 1. Discuss the choice of music. Is it the kind of music you would expect for this scene? The director uses contrapuntal music (Classical) over a sinister scene. 2. Why do you think the director used this piece to go with the action on the scree

Media Awards Analysis

Click The cinematography was really good as we as the audience where able to see all the action going on even with the gentle camera shakes in between. T he edited gun flash effects created a real sense of realism and immersion for the audience. The music was suspenseful throughout and kept the audience on the edge of their seats. Costume wise they got it spot on, as the final scene showed a shootout and the smart/casual attire everyone wore fitted in nicely with the general feel of the scene. Voice of The Void The voice over worked well with the narrative of the movie. The cinematography of the movie was also impressive as they used many different types of shots (Mediums/Close ups/Long Shots) which where executed well in the final product. The use of casual costumes also set the scene well and presented the characters in the ways they want. Out of Mind The use of voice over to present the narrative was used well as she was able to indirectly describe what's going on

I used parallel music for media awards to fit the mood then switched over to contrapuntal, then fully used contrapuntal music with a sound bridge across all the action scenes.

'Film noir research'.

Film noir   is a  cinematic  term used primarily to describe stylish  Hollywood   crime dramas , particularly such that emphasize cynical attitudes and  sexual motivations . Hollywood's classical film noir period is generally regarded as extending from the early 1940s to the late 1950s. Film noir of this era is associated with a  low-key ,  black-and-white  visual style that has roots in  German Expressionist  cinematography . Many of the prototypical stories and much of the attitude of classic noir derive from the  hardboiled  school of  crime fiction  that emerged in the United States during the  Great Depression . The film uses Key lighting along with a use of natural lighting (the fire)  There are many shadows The actors faces are never completely lit up

'Lighting: still image analysis'

The use of Top Lighting here is to create a glamorous look for the woman, it's coming from the top right and is most probably a filler light to only have a small park of her lit up. The use of a key light here helps us see the entire picture clearly, and the use of a top lighting from a filler helps us see the lines on his faces such as the cheek bones, and gives the shadow under his eyes to perceive a more menacing look. The top lighting in this picture gives the actor a menacing look instead of a glamorous one, his face is half shown, and a filler light is on the pistol to make it stand out. There's a heavy use of key lighting on her, with a shadow in the middle. The use of filler light behind the blinds, reflects the shadow onto the actors faces, whereas the key light lights up the rest of the scene. The use of back light, key lighting is to create a silhouette of the small group. The use of key lighting covers half of the actresses face and creates a shad

Star persona video feedback and learner response

2) My cinematography was good, with a clear background. Generally a good use of CLAMPS, but I was told that I need to add some sort of intro/outro and add some music in the background to make the video less boring as a whole. I think this is accurate feedback. 3) The mood board helped us clarify how much we wanted the scar to cover and how big we wanted it. Also it helped us decided on making it some-what a 50/50 split between the scar and the make-up. 4) Improve the lighting and add some sort of sounds in the background, and make the editing more interesting and engaging with the audience. 5) Apart from the obvious one being make-up, I think it was the placement of the actor, as he face was clearly visible throughout the video and stayed in shot. 6) I think the lighting could have been greatly improved on as it was a bit too dark. 7) I learned that an intro is important as is some sort of background music to keep the viewer engaged. 8) Add an interesting intro/outro, possibly subtitl
