I think the movie generally didn't live up to the hype that surrounded it. Considering that majority of people seeing it most likely haven't seen the first they may be more than likely to feel disappointed for it's lack of cliche's and not appreciate the originality that the fans of the old movie have come to see. And as for winning over younger generations I feel that's a complete misinterpretation as younger viewers would much rather prefer to see more shallow characters with massive explosions, guns and cars.
