Costume The costumes are historically accurate as Spartans actually did not wear armour when going into battle, therefore people who do not know this may mistake this scene as portraying men in a sexual way. But the fact they don't wear armour makes them appear more masculine, and fearless. Lighting The lighting in the scene is very dark, which goes very well with the battle that's happening. The light poking through the clouds looks a bit like lightening. the dark lighting gives a very dark undertone to the battle suggesting death. Actor (placement and movement) The actors are all set up near each other and seem to be charging towards something (presumably the enemy), all the actors are also really muscular for the role of fighters.
